Battery-powered hand-held ultrasonic surgical cautery cutting device

A battery-powered, modular surgical device comprising an electrically powered surgical instrument that requires a pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy to complete a surgical procedure, and a power module assembly that has a battery that powers the surgical instrument and has a current state of electrical charge, and a control circuit that is electrically coupled to the battery and the surgical instrument and has a memory and a microprocessor. The microprocessor determines the current state of electrical charge of the battery, compares the current state of electrical charge to the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy, permits the battery to discharge if the current state of electrical charge is above the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy, and maintains the battery in a non-discharge state if the current state of electrical charge is below the pre-determined minimum amount of electrical energy.

Staple cartridge comprising a variable thickness compressible portion

A fastener cartridge can comprise a support portion, a tissue thickness compensator positioned relative to the support portion, and a plurality of fasteners positioned within the support portion and/or the tissue thickness compensator which can be utilized to fasten tissue. In use, the fastener cartridge can be positioned in a first jaw of a surgical fastening device, wherein a second jaw, or anvil, can be positioned opposite the first jaw. To deploy the fasteners, a staple-deploying member is advanced through the fastener cartridge to move the fasteners toward the anvil. As the fasteners are deployed, the fasteners can capture at least a portion of the tissue thickness compensator therein along with at least a portion of the tissue being fastened.

Vertical batch furnace assembly with detector to detect cassette

Vertical batch furnace assembly for processing wafers comprising a cassette handling space with a cassette storage, and a cassette handling mechanism. The cassette handling mechanism comprises a cassette handler which is configured to transfer wafer cassettes between cassette storage positions and a wafer transfer position by supporting and moving the wafer cassettes on a cassette handler arm. The cassette handler arm is provided with a detector to detect a cassette in a detection area. The cassette handler moves the detection area of the detector towards one of the cassette storage positions to detect whether a cassette is present.

Dynamic discovery of peer network devices across a wide area network

A network controller can register WAN edge routers and WAN optimizers distributed across a WAN. The controller can receive a request to establish a WAN optimized connection between first and second hosts. The controller can identify a first WAN optimizer to perform first services (e.g., de-duplication, compression, application acceleration, caching, etc.) for first traffic from the first host to the second host and first complementary services for second traffic from the second host to the first host, and a second WAN optimizer for the second traffic and second complementary services for the first traffic. The controller can establish the optimized connection comprising a first path including the first host, WAN optimizer, and router; a second path including the first router and a second router, and a third path including the second router, WAN optimizer, and host. The controller can route the first and second traffic through the optimized connection.

Angularly varying light emitting device with an imager

In one embodiment, a light emitting system comprises an angularly varying light emitting device (AVLED) comprising one or more light sources, the AVLED operable to individually adjust light flux output from the one or more light sources into different angular bins in the environment; and a light sensor positioned to receive light from the environment, wherein light from the angularly varying light emitting device is cycled to emit light flux into different angular bins at different time periods, the light sensor is synchronized to capture first information related to light from the light flux reflected from the environment at the different time periods, and the angularly varying light emitting device adjusts the light flux output in different angular bins based on analysis of the first information received by the light sensor. The light sensor may be an imager and the AVLED may comprise a micro-LED array.

Dynamically prioritizing users during network congestion

A system may receive an indication that a user device is connecting to a network and determine, based on a profile associated with the user device, that a priority associated with the user device is to be modified when congestion associated with the network reaches a level. The system may send, to a base station, a first request to monitor the congestion associated with the network. The system may receive, from the base station, an indication that the congestion associated with the network has reached the level. The system may send, to the base station, a second request to modify the priority associated with the user device when the congestion associated with the network is at the level.

Edge discovery techniques in wireless communications systems

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for configuration of edge data networks based on current and projected future locations of a user equipment (UE). The UE may provide one or more expected future locations based on routing information of the UE, a polygon associated with one or more current or future UE locations, a waypoint set of the UE, and the like. Based on the provided one or more future locations, the edge data network may provide to the UE one or more edge data network configurations for different UE locations. As the UE moves to different locations, different edge data network configurations may be used, thereby enhancing efficiency of UE operation in the edge data network.
