SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING OCCUPANCY USING RADIO SIGNALS

A sensor system for determining occupancy in a space generally includes a transmitter radio device that transmits radio signals over a channel in the space; a receiver radio device that receives the transmitted radio signals that have traveled through the space; and at least one processor implementing an occupancy-centric algorithm that determines occupancy in the space based on the radio signals. The at least one processor determines channel state information based on the radio signals transmitted over the channel, determines occupancy in the space based on the channel state information, and outputs an occupancy signal based on the determined occupancy.

Augmented reality experiences with object manipulation

Augmented reality experiences with an eyewear device including a position detection system and a display system are provided. The eyewear device detects at least one of a hand gesture or movement of the user in the physical environment, and associates the hand gesture with a setting for a virtual object held within the memory of the eyewear device. The eyewear device may then change an attribute of the virtual object based on the detected hand gesture or movement. The eyewear device then provides an output corresponding to one or more attributes of the virtual object. The virtual object may be, for example, a music player or a virtual game piece.

System, network, device and stacked spectrum method for implementing spectrum sharing of multiple contiguous and non-contiguous spectrum bands utilizing universal wireless access gateways to enable dynamic security and bandwidth policy management

A system and method in various embodiments implements a virtual spectrum band stacking technique facilitating spectrum sharing by converting and combining spectrum bands consisting of several different RF channels, common air interfaces, and radio channel protocols in the radio frequency channel domain to form IP Virtual Radio Channels (IP-VRCs) in the packet data domain. This virtual spectrum stacking technique combines the transmissions of contiguous and non-contiguous RF channels with differing physical layers into IP-VRCs. This technique enables simultaneous parallel high-speed wireless transmission; virtual radio channel hopping for enhanced security; and customized security schemes for different IP-VRC Groups. The deployment of the combination of IP-VRC Groups; Universal “Small Cell” Base Stations; and Universal Wireless End-Point Devices allows the aggregation of all available spectrum bands for use within a building environment. Some benefits of this deployment include expansion of spectrum utilization, service quality, security, applications and transmission throughput for wireless end-point devices.

Seal configurations for surgical instruments such as for use in robotic surgical systems

A robotic surgical instrument includes a housing, a support plate disposed within the housing, and a shaft having a proximal end portion coupled to the support plate within the housing, a proximal segment, a distal segment, and an articulating portion interconnecting the proximal and distal segments. An end effector assembly is coupled to the distal segment of the shaft. A plurality of actuation components extends through the support plate and at least a portion of the shaft to operably couple to at least one of the end effector assembly, the articulating portion, or the distal segment to enable selective actuation of the end effector assembly. A seal configuration establishes seals against an interior annular surface of the shaft, about each actuation component of the plurality of actuation components, and within the proximal end portion of the shaft to inhibit fluid communication from the shaft into the housing.

Bias source identification and de-biasing of a dataset

A source of bias identification (SoBI) tool is provided that identifies sources of bias in a dataset. A bias detection operation is performed on results of a computer model, based on an input dataset, to generate groupings of values for a protected attribute corresponding to a detected bias in the operation of the computer model. The SoBI tool generates a plurality of sub-groups for each grouping of values. Each sub-group comprises an individual value, or a sub-range, for the protected attribute. The SoBI tool analyzes each of the sub-groups in the plurality of sub-groups, based on at least one source of bias identification criterion, to identify one or more sources of bias in the input dataset. The SoBI tool outputs a bias notification to an authorized computing device specifying the one or more sources of bias in the input dataset.
