Device and method for determining a semantic segmentation and/or an instance segmentation of an image

A computer-implemented method for determining an output signal characterizing a semantic segmentation and/or an instance segmentation of an image. The method includes: determining a first intermediate output signal from a machine learning system, wherein the first intermediate output signal characterizes a semantic segmentation and/or an instance segmentation of the image; adapting parameters of the machine learning system based on a loss function, wherein the loss function characterizes an entropy or a cross-entropy of the first intermediate output signal; determining the output signal from the machine learning system based on the image and the adapted parameters.

Data storage and retrieval system for subdividing unstructured platform-agnostic user input into platform-specific data objects and data entities

A platform-agnostic input system can render a multiuser input board user interface element at one or more frontends to collect input from multiple users simultaneously. The platform-agnostic input system can maintain an object graph based on positions of objects added to the multiuser input board. The platform-agnostic input system can select branches of the object graph and determine which among a set of platforms in a multiplatform computing system to associate with the data associated with each node of that branch of the object graph.

PLATFORM-AGNOSTIC DATA STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL IN A MULTIPLATFORM COMPUTING ENVIRONMENT

A data storage system instantiates a graph data structure to store platform-agnostic atomic data units of organization-owned content in a multiplatform computing environment. Each atomic data unit can be accessed by any platform in the multiplatform computing environment and may be included in or referenced by any document, object, or other platform-specific data structure.

Methods of detecting analytes

Localized detection of RNA in a tissue sample that includes cells is accomplished on an array. The array include a number of features on a substrate. Each feature includes a different capture probe immobilized such that the capture probe has a free 3′ end. Each feature occupies a distinct position on the array and has an area of less than about 1 mm2. Each capture probe is a nucleic acid molecule, which includes a positional domain including a nucleotide sequence unique to a particular feature, and a capture domain including a nucleotide sequence complementary to the RNA to be detected. The capture domain can be at a position 3′ of the positional domain.

Spectrum usage protection in a shared wireless network

A wireless system is shared amongst a hierarchal tier of entities. A communication management resource receives notification that a second-tier priority entity has been allocated use of a second wireless spectrum as a replacement to first wireless spectrum. In one embodiment, the first wireless spectrum is revoked from the second-tier priority entity based on use of the first wireless spectrum by a first-tier priority entity (such as incumbent entity). The communication management resource controls a wireless transmit power level of a third-tier priority entity in the hierarchy to provide protected use of the second wireless spectrum by the second-tier priority entity. According to one configuration, the communication management resource controls a power level of wireless communications transmitted by a wireless base station operated by the third-tier priority entity.

METHOD OF COMPRESSING TISSUE WITHIN A STAPLING DEVICE AND SIMULTANEOUSLY DISPLAYING THE LOCATION OF THE TISSUE WITHIN THE JAWS

A surgical system comprising a surgical instrument and a surgical hub is disclosed. The surgical instrument is configured to perform a surgical procedure and comprises a housing, a shaft assembly, an end effector, and a sensor configured to sense a parameter associated with a function of the surgical instrument. The surgical hub comprises a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive data from the sensor, wherein the data comprises the parameter associated with the function of the surgical instrument; infer a step of the surgical procedure being performed by the surgical instrument, based on the data from the sensor; receive data from a database, wherein the data from the database is associated with the step of the surgical procedure; compare a value of the parameter to the data received from the database; and control the surgical instrument based on the comparison.

EXTERNAL FEMALE CATHETER SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE

System and methods for automatically removing by suction urine voided by a female. The systems include an external catheter and an integrated suction regulator or a stand alone external catheter for use with any source of regulated suction. The external catheter includes a suction tube an a fluid pervious cover. The catheter's cover is applied at the female's urethra opening to receive urine voided by the female, whereupon urine from the external female catheter passes through the cover into the suction tube, from which it is carried by out of the external catheter for collection. The external catheter is malleable so that it can be conformed to the anatomy of the female.

Absorbent article with a distribution layer comprising channels

An absorbent article such as a diaper extending in a longitudinal direction parallel to a longitudinal axis (80′) and a transversal direction (90′) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and comprising a distribution layer (54) between a topsheet (24) and an absorbent core (28). The distribution layer comprises a fibrous material and a first and second longitudinally-extending channels (86a,b) substantially free of fibrous material. The fibrous material is profiled in the transversal direction so that average basis weight between the channels differs from the average basis weight in the lateral areas outward of the channels by at least 50 g/m2 and/or wherein the distribution layer comprises a first region having a first basis weight (bw1) and a second region having a second basis weight (bw2), wherein the first basis weight and the second basis weight differ by at least 20 g/m2, preferably by at least 50 g/m2, and these regions are present in different areas of the distribution layer but in the same longitudinally extending transversal section. The absorbent core may comprise channel-forming areas (26a,b). The article further comprises a backsheet (25).
