Invented item will stop bass drums from sliding away from you while playing and also doubles as a memory marker for setting up drums at another location. Made of aluminum, this item is lightweight yet strong and conveniently easy to set up. All you do is hook the aluminum bar to the bottom of your bass drum pedal, put the bolt through one of the holes that are at the other end of the bar, and position the tube of your drum seat over the bolt. This will always have your correct setting, eliminating adjusting them for every performance. With the series of different holes, you have the freedom to position the drum seat to a distance of your liking. This method pins your drum seat to the bar creating one complete unit between bass drum and you.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONAfter many years of playing local clubs and venues as a drummer, I experienced an ongoing situation in regards to my bass drums constantly sliding and moving away from me during playing. This was due to the bass drum pedal banging constantly against the skin of the bass drum which in turn caused the drum to slide away. This is not only through normal use of playing the drums, but especially in very aggressive styles of playing. This would happen every time my bass drum pedal hit the drum. I tried to prevent the bass drums from moving by using concrete blocks to weigh them down, but they would still move away to the point of me not being able to play without stopping and pulling them forward, which is not a good thing in the presence of a live audience. This gave me the idea to come up with a unique way of preventing the bass drums from moving. This item is very practical, affordable, light weight and strong, fast and easy to set up, and is out of the way for the user. When transporting, it fits along with the other stands and hardware from the drum set.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe invention is a flat stock of aluminum, with a hook on one end that latches onto the bottom of the bass drum pedal. At the other end is a series of drilled holes, which makes this adjustable for different players, with a bolt inserted through the bottom of the hole selected. There are no nuts to tighten because the bolt goes through the flat aluminum bar and up into the bottom portion of the hollow tube from the drum seat stand. This acts as a pin to anchor the drum seat to the flat bar while the other end of the bar is hooked onto the bass drum pedal. I have been using this invention for almost a year now and it works at 100% stoppage. The bass drums stay put. This is designed mainly for the serious and aggressive drummer, but any drummer can benefit from its use.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGSFIG. 1 Picture of invented item.
An aluminum flat bar with a hook on one end (lower left) and a series of holes at the other end (upper right). The series of holes makes it adjustable for different players. Alongside of bar is a picture of the bolt. This bolt goes through the bottom of one of the holes and fits up into the bottom end of the tube of the drum seat.
FIG. 2 Picture of invented item hooked onto bottom of bass drum pedal. Directly below and along side of pedal is another flat bar showing the hook.
FIG. 3a. Picture of invented item hooked to bass drum pedal with the bolt sticking up from the bar. The tube of the seat sits on top of this bolt. Directly below and along side of pedal is another flat bar showing the hook and the hole where bolt is to go through.
FIG. 3b. Picture of invented item in practical use.
Aluminum flat bar hooked to bass drum pedal and drum seat pinned to flat bar creating one link. Directly below and along side of pedal is another flat bar showing the hook and the hole where the bolt is to go through.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTIONInvented item consists of one flat aluminum bar measuring {fraction (1/8)} inch thick, 1{fraction (1/2)} inches wide and 30 inches in length. A piece of metal is then bent into a hook and mounted at one end of the aluminum bar, which latches onto the bottom of the bass drum pedal. The piece of metal measures {fraction (3/4)} inch wide, 1{fraction (1/4)} inches in length on the bottom, where it is attached to the aluminum bar. Then it is bent up and over, {fraction (1/4)} inch in height, creating the hook, and the extending piece of the top portion of said hook extends {fraction (7/8)} inches out which is the portion that hooks to the underside of the bass drum pedal. On the other end of the aluminum bar is a series of {fraction (3/4)} inch holes, drilled equally apart at {fraction (7/16)} inches. Through one of these holes, a {fraction (5/8)} inch bolt is inserted from the underside of the bar. The tube from the drum seat fits over this bolt. When the drummer decides on a particular setting he could cut off the remainder portion of the bar, as I did, or leave it as is, enabling him to readjust it at future dates.
1. What I claim as my invention is the use of an item that will erase years of frustration that no other manufacturer has been able to achieve for the aggressive drummer. Item specifically eliminates bass drum movement while playing and also doubles as a memory marker for setting up drums from one location to another. The distance from seat to pedal will always be at the proper setting without having to sit down and physically move them to a comfortable position each and every time.
