Abstract:

A light emitting billiard ball adapted to transmit light upon impact having an outer shell and a light emitting circuit. The light emitting circuit energizes an LED and the energized LED transmits light through the outer shell. The principle use is for billiard balls however other applications will benefit from this invention. For example, Bocce balls, bowling balls, tennis balls, ping pong balls, as well as other balls in impact applications will benefit from this application.

BACKGROUND ART

We are submitting a pool ball to be used in the billiards industry that when struck will light up for a period of time. The ball is balanced so that it will be able to be used in a game of pool.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING

FIG. 1 is a schematic representation of a light emitting billiard ball embodying the present invention.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

The enclosed drawing, FIG. 1, refers a light emitting billiard ball shown with an outer shell (1) that admits light. A light, LED (light emitting diode) (2) and a light emitting circuit assembly (3) embedded in the ball. The light emitting circuit assembly (3) comprises a battery (4) that provides the necessary voltage, the LED (2) and an impact switch (5) electrically connected (6) between the battery (4) and the LED (2). The impact switch (5) is comprised of a casing and a spring. The casing is connected to the positive terminal of the battery (4) by a conductor (6). When struck, the light emitting billiard ball flashes, as it rolls over a pool table.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A light emitting billiard ball, comprising:

an outer shell adapted to admit light;

a core being disposed in said outer shell; and

a light emitting circuit assembly embedded in said core having a battery, an LED, and an impact switch, said impact switch being electrically connected between said battery and said LED, said impact switch adapted to energize said LED upon impact, and said energized LED transmits light through said outer shell.
