Description

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims priority from provisional application No. 61/137,997 filed on Aug. 5, 2008.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to yoga gloves which are used while performing yoga exercises and which have a gripping material on the palm area of each glove.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Heretofore people practicing yoga exercises and Pilates exercise did them with bare hands on a mat and sometimes their hands slipped.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to the teachings of the present invention there is provided a pair of yoga gloves comprising right and left hand gloves made of natural or synthetic materials and each glove having the tip portion of the finger and thumb receiving sleeves of each glove cut off to provide exposed finger and thumb tips when the gloves are worn and a non-slip sticky substance on portions of the outer surface of a palm covering portion of each glove.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a plan view of the back side of a right hand glove constructed according to the teachings of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is a plan view of the inside or palm side of the glove shown in FIG. 1.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

The glove 10 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 of a pair of gloves are made from a sweat absorbing fabric that may be made from natural or synthetic materials, e.g., cotton, wool, rayon, bamboo, polyester or other textiles.

The right hand glove 10 has half fingers 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20 so that the tip portions 22, 24, 26, 28 and 30 of the fingers of a person wearing the gloves are exposed for gripping and dexterity.

A palm area 42 (there is no 32 in the drawing) has a non-slip sticky substance 34 on the palm, specifically placed on the pads of the hand as shown in FIG. 2 (does the picture need to say “FIG. 2” on it somewhere?)

The non-slip sticky substance is a rubbery substance made from any material such as rubber, plastic, PVC, silica, or other any other substance that creates a non-slip surface.

Further, the non-slip sticky substance 34 can be arranged in a C shape 36 on the pads of the palm as shown in FIG. 2. The sticky substance specifically covers the palmar metacarpal heads 38, hypothenar eminence 40 and the nar eminence 42.

The purpose: Many people when doing Yoga Poses have sweaty hands that tend to slip, making it difficult to hold their poses on a mat or floor. The gloves are designed to absorb sweat and provide a non slip environment. The exposed fingers still enable tactile functions which are also important and help to ensure that the hand can securely grip the floor, mat or Pilates equipment mat as well.
