BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The Cover Keeper pertains to the golf industry.

The purpose of the Cover Keeper is to provide a means for which a golfer will not lose a head-cover.

There are problems with the current technologies available. Although current technology prevents head covers from randomly falling off, it does not protect against human error. For example, the golfer takes the head-cover off and puts it on the ground while hitting the shot. The golfer then leaves the head-cover on the ground and walks down the fairway. There are many scenarios just like this where human error leads to lost head-covers. In addition, there are other head-cover retention devices, but they have many problems. They have issues with installation difficulties, secure connection, universal connection, interchangeability, tangling, cumbersome, and one standard form.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The Cover Keeper is a golf accessory that allows the golfer to connect their head-covers together in pairs or connect a solo head-cover to the golf bag. By connecting head-covers together, it allows for a head-cover to hang from another golf club head-cover when in use, as opposed to being left behind on the ground. As well, connecting a head-cover to the bag allows it to hang from the golf bag while in use as opposed to being left behind on the ground. The safety-pin badge system allows for easy connection onto any head-cover, ability to rotate new head cover in and out, and the ability to customize and accessorize. In addition, the elastic cord, mounting recommendations, and the barrel swivels keep the product from tangling, making it a very clean way to manage your head-covers.

The Cover Keeper solves all of the current problems. The Cover Keeper combats human error. Now instead of leaving the head-cover on the ground, the head-cover hangs from another club in the bag or from the bag itself. It goes with the golfer and the bag whether the golfer remembers to put it back on or not. The Cover Keeper is very simple to install. It can be connected onto any head-cover. It provides a strong connection that can still be taken off with ease. The elastic cord and swivel combination provides product use with no tangling. As a result, the product provides a very manageable way to keep track of your head-covers. The Cover Keeper provides a means for the golfer to customize and accessorize their head-covers while not losing lose them.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Benefits of using the Cover Keeper

People using the Cover Keeper will benefit in many ways. They will not lose their head-covers. This will allow them to keep their golf clubs protected. It will allow for emotional benefit because a golfer will not have to worry about losing a lucky or favorite head-cover. It will help speed up pace of play on the golf course because golfers will not be running back looking for the lost head-cover. Golf course staff will not have to drive around the golf course looking for lost head-covers. Golf course staff and golfers will not have to dig through lost and found bins looking for lost head-covers. Golf courses will not have to have large bins full of lost head-covers taking up space.

How to make the Cover Keeper

The Parts

As seen in FIG. 1:

• • The black elastic cord 1 is 2 mm round elastic cord; the black elastic cord 1 is approximately six inches long; epoxy 3 is used on both the elastic cord knots 2; barrel fishing swivels 4; two Cover Keeper Badges 5 with a Bar safety pin with latch 6 on back—the bar allows for the badge to be connected; the latch allows for a secure connection to the head-cover.

• • Cover Keeper Badges can be magnetic 11; any Metal Ball Marker 12 can be attached to the top of the magnetic Cover Keeper Badges 11.

• • Accessorizing Cover Keeper badges 13 provide decoration; the Cover Keeper Accessorizing badges 13 have the same bar safety pin with latch on the back 6.
    The following steps are taken to make the Cover Keeper

As seen in FIG. 1:

• • Cut a piece of 2 mm round elastic cord 1 approximately seven inches in length.
  • Tie a barrel swivel 4 onto each end of the cord.
  • Apply epoxy 3 to each of the knots 2 to secure the knot.
  • Cut excess elastic cord hanging out from the knot.
  • Sauder a bar safety pin with latch 6 onto the back of each of the two Cover Keeper Badges 5.
  • Connect a Cover Keeper badge 5 onto each end of the elastic cord 1 by threading the bar safety pin 6 trough the open loop in the barrel swivel 4 on each end of the elastic cord 1. This connection is shown at 7.

As seen in FIG. 5:

• • At this point the Cover Keeper is finished. It is ready to be connected to head-covers 8 or to connect a head-cover to the golf bag 9.
    How the Cover Keeper is used

As seen in FIG. 5:

• • Golfers will use the Cover Keeper to provide a means to not lose a head-cover. In order to use the Cover Keeper, the golfer will connect the Cover Keeper to the top of their head-covers 8. The golfer will stick the safety pin through the head-cover material, and then latch the safety pin into place for secure connection. Every golfer has a different number of head-covers. The Cover Keeper should be used to connect the head-covers in pairs. Connect the head-covers together for golf clubs that are similar in length and are in a similar area of the golf bag. If the golfer has an odd number of head-covers, the solo head-cover should be connected to the golf bag 9. In this case, one badge will connect to the top of the head-cover and the other badge will connect to the golf bag. From here, the golfer just needs to play. When they hit a shot, the head-cover will be hanging from another club or from the bag waiting to be put back on.
    The Cover Keeper product will be attractive to all golfers

All golfers could use the Cover keeper. Golfers would use the Cover Keeper to make sure that they do not lose a head-cover. They can also use the cover keeper to accessorize their head-covers.

There are many businesses that would also use the Cover Keeper. Businesses that would use the Cover Keeper include pro shops, retailers, golf teachers, caddies, corporate tournaments, and golf leagues. Corporation can also purchase the Cover Keeper for promotional needs. These businesses would use my product to make sure that golfers are not losing their head-covers, and to be able to market and advertise through custom Cover Keepers.

Custom Cover Keepers

As seen in FIG. 2:

• • The Cover Keeper design allows for the golfer to advertize through custom logos. The Cover Keeper badges provide a great opportunity for promotional advertising 10.

Magnetic Cover Keepers

As seen in FIG. 3:

• • Magnets 11 in the face of the Cover Keeper badges allow for the golfer to attach their metal golf ball markers on top of the badge. This way they don't have to dig through the pockets of their golf bag looking for a ball marker. The ball marker will be waiting for them on top of their head-covers.

Accessorized Cover Keepers

As seen in FIG. 4:

• • The Cover Keeper allows for the golfer to accessorize and decorate their head-covers. Decorative Cover Keeper charms 13 can be substituted in order to decorate head-covers. Cover Keeper logo badges can be switched out with Cover Keeper decorative badges featuring flowers, bugs, characters, colors, etc. In addition, the golfer can accessorize their Cover Keeper with different color elastic cords.
