Abstract:

An improved yarn is described. The yarn includes an outer layer, a first internal thread, a second internal thread, and a helical thread. The helical thread is woven on the first internal thread in a helical pattern. The second internal thread is positioned adjacent and in parallel to the first internal thread. The outer layer encloses the first and second internal threads and the helical thread.

CLAIM OF PRIORITY

This application claims priority to U.S. application Ser. No. 62/617,680 filed on Jan. 16, 2018, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference in its entirety.

FIELD OF THE EMBODIMENTS

The field of embodiments of the present invention related to a yarn with improved resilience, longer lifecycle, and improved flexibility attributes.

BACKGROUND OF THE EMBODIMENTS

For centuries, humans have been trying to improve clothing to better suit their needs. This has been done by improving materials and manufacturing techniques. The latest step in innovation has been to use man-made products and materials. However, that has presented other challenges, such a softer more natural feel, stronger and longer lasting performance. Although some natural fibers and materials such and leather and fur have provided humans with softness, warmth and durability in the past, these materials are now very expensive to obtain in large global quantities. A review of related technology presents the following publications.

For instance, U.S. Pub 2016/0032501 pertains to a moisture transfer yarn blend and fabric containing a selected of engineered shaped, lobed, deep grooved, channeled, hollow, sheath-core, bi-component polymer silver fibers and bi-component polymer fibers, optionally blended with cylinder or round fibers or natural fibers or a combination. The engineered shaped, lobed, channeled and deep grooved polymer fibers have indentations along the longitudinal side of the fibers. The deep grooved fibers have four to eight deep indentations along the longitudinal side of the fibers and containing grooves in the deepest portion of the indentation.

U.S. Pub. 2017/0145596 pertains to a cooling material that can include a yarn having a defined denier of less than or equal to approximately 90 denier, wherein the yarn can comprise a cooling additive disposed on or in a polymer. In some embodiments, the yarn can be at least one of a warp or a weft of a woven fabric. Including a polymer, a cooling additive, wherein the cooling additive is disposed on or in the polymer; and processing the cooling material by employing a non-weaving technique to create a non-woven fabric. In some embodiments, the non-weaving technique is one of a melt-blown process, a spun-bond process, or a multi-denier process

However, none of the art described above addresses all the issues that the embodiments of the present invention do. A need still exists for a fiber that improves fiber breakage that is typical in man-made fibers, but at the same time prevents fabric stretching and growth.

SUMMARY OF THE EMBODIMENTS

The current application provides and improvement on existing yarn technologies thereby improving yarn breakage that is typical in man-made yarns, but at the same time prevents fabric stretching and growth. The yarn also leads to a smooth effect even after distortion and more natural sheet and softer feel. The improved yarns also lead to improved resistance to chlorine bleach and other chemicals.

Embodiments of the present invention include a yarn of fiber including an outer layer, a first internal thread, a second internal layer, and a helical thread. The helical thread may be woven on the first internal thread using a helical patter. The first and second internal threads may be positioned adjacent and in parallel. The outer layer may enclose the first and second internal threads and the helical thread.

A method of producing a yarn is also described. The method may include weaving a helical thread on a first internal thread using a helical pattern. The helical thread may include an elastic polyurethane-based material. The first internal thread may include a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, and/or a combination thereof. Next, a second internal thread may be positioned adjacent and in parallel to the first internal thread. The second internal thread may include the elastic polyurethane-based material. Furthermore, the helical thread and the first and second internal threads may be encapsulated with an outer layer. The outer layer may include a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, and/or a combination thereof.

It is an object of the embodiment of the present invention to provide the first internal thread and the outer layer composed of a cotton, a polyester, a synthetic and/or cellulose yarn-based material.

It is another object of the embodiment of the present invention to provide the helical thread and the second internal thread composed of an elastic polyurethane-based material.

It is yet another object of the embodiment of the present invention to provide the outer layer that forms a tube around the first and second internal threads and the helical thread.

In addition to the foregoing, other objects, features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will be better comprehended through a careful reading of a detailed description provided herein below with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described with reference to the drawings. Identical elements in the various figures are identified with the same reference numerals.

Reference will now be made in detail to each embodiment of the present invention. Such embodiments are provided by way of explanation of the present invention, which is not intended to be limited thereto. In fact, those of ordinary skill in the art may appreciate upon reading the present specification and viewing the present drawings that various modifications and variations can be made thereto.

As seen in FIG. 1 the present invention may include a yarn 1. The yarn 1 may include a combination of threads. The threads may be composed of a combination of materials. In an example scenario, the yarn 1 may include an outer layer 2, a first internal thread 3, and a second internal thread 4 and a helical thread 5. The helical thread may be woven on or wrapped around the first internal thread in a helical pattern. The first internal thread 3 and the second internal thread 4 may be positioned adjacent and in parallel. The outer layer 2 may enclose (or encompass) the first internal thread 3, the second internal thread 4, and the helical thread 5. The outer layer 2 may form a tube around the first internal thread 3, the second internal thread 4, and the helical thread 5.

The first internal thread 3 may include a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, and/or a combination thereof. Preferably, the first internal thread 3 may include a cotton-based material. The outer layer 2 may also include a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, and/or a combination thereof.

The helical thread 5 may include an elastic polyurethane-based material. The second internal thread 4 may also include an elastic polyurethane-based material. Alternatively, the helical thread 5 and the second internal thread 4 may include a polybutylene terephthalate, a polyester, a polypropylene based material, and/or a combination thereof.

The first internal thread 3 and a combination of the helical thread 5 and the second internal thread 4 may include a weight ratio between about 5:1 to about 30:1. The first internal thread 3 may make up between about 60% to about 96.5% of a weight of the yarn 1. The helical thread 5 and the second internal thread 4 may make up between about 1.5% to about 10% of the weight of the yarn 1.

A structure of the helical thread 5 woven on the first internal thread 3 may improve a feel and durability of a fabric woven from the yarn 1. A twist of the helical thread 5 may able to hold shape when the helical pattern has a twist value between about 9 threads per inch (TPI) and about 30 TPI.

Furthermore, the helical thread 5 and the second internal thread may include a denier of between about 20 and 150. The first internal thread 3 may include a denier between about 30 and 200.

The yarn 1 may provide and improvement on existing yarn technologies thereby improving yarn breakage that is typical in man-made yarns. The yarn 1 may also prevent fabric stretching and growth. The yarn 1 may provide a smooth effect and a soft feel (even after distortion) when used to produce a natural sheet. The yarn 1 may also improve resistance to chlorine bleach and other chemicals.

FIG. 2 shows a cross sectional view of the yarn 1. The yarn 1 may include the outer layer 2, the first internal thread 3, and the second internal thread 4 and a helical thread 5. The helical thread may be woven on the first internal thread in a helical pattern. The first internal thread 3 and the second internal thread 4 may be positioned adjacent and in parallel. The outer layer 2 may encompass the first internal thread 3, the second internal thread 4, and the helical thread 5 by forming a tube around the first internal thread 3, the second internal thread 4, and the helical thread 5.

FIG. 3 shows a lengthwise cross-sectional view of the yarn 1. The yarn 1 may include the outer layer 2, the first internal thread 3, and the second internal thread 4 and a helical thread 5. The helical thread may be woven on the first internal thread in a helical pattern. The first internal thread 3 and the second internal thread 4 may be positioned adjacent and in parallel. The outer layer 2 may encompass the first internal thread 3, the second internal thread 4, and the helical thread 5 by forming a tube around the first internal thread 3, the second internal thread 4, and the helical thread 5.

A method of producing the yarn 1 is also described. The method may include weaving a helical thread on a first internal thread using a helical pattern. The helical thread may include an elastic polyurethane-based material. The first internal thread may include a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, and/or a combination thereof. Next, a second internal thread may be positioned adjacent and in parallel to the first internal thread. The second internal thread may include the elastic polyurethane-based material. Furthermore, the helical thread and the first and second internal threads may be encapsulated with an outer layer. The outer layer may include a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, and/or a combination thereof.

In addition to the foregoing, other objects, features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will be better comprehended through a careful reading of a detailed description provided herein below with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made only by way of illustration and that numerous changes in the details of construction and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and the scope of the invention.

Claims

What is claimed:

1. A yarn comprising:

an outer layer, a first internal thread, a second internal thread, and a helical thread, wherein

the helical thread is woven on the first internal thread in a helical pattern, and wherein

the outer layer encloses the first and second internal threads and the helical thread.

2. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the first internal thread includes one or more of: a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, and a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material.

3. The yarn of claim 2, wherein the first internal thread includes the cotton-based material.

4. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the helical thread and the second internal threads include an elastic polyurethane-based material.

5. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the helical thread and the second internal threads include one or more of a polybutylene terephthalate, a polyester, and a polypropylene based material.

6. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the first and second internal threads are positioned adjacent and in parallel.

7. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the outer layer forms a tube around the first and second internal threads and the helical thread.

8. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the first internal thread and a combination of the helical thread and the second internal thread include a weight ratio between about 5:1 to about 30:1.

9. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the first internal thread comprises between about 60% to about 96.5% of a weight of the yarn.

10. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the helical thread and the second internal thread comprise between about 1.5% to about 10% of a weight of the yarn.

11. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the helical pattern of the helical thread wrapped on the first internal thread includes a twist value between about 9 threads per inch (TPI) and about 30 TPI.

12. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the first internal thread includes a denier between about 30 and 200.

13. The yarn of claim 1, wherein the helical thread and the second internal thread include a denier between about 20 and 150.

14. A yarn comprising:

an outer layer, first and second internal threads, and a helical thread, wherein

the outer layer includes one or more of a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, and a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, wherein

the first internal thread includes one or more of a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, and a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material, wherein

the helical thread and the second internal thread include an elastic polyurethane-based material, wherein

the helical thread is woven on the first internal thread in a helical pattern, wherein

the first and second internal threads are positioned adjacent and in parallel, and wherein

the outer layer forms a tube around the first and second internal threads and the helical thread.

15. A method of producing a yarn, the method comprising:

weaving a helical thread on a first internal thread using a helical pattern, wherein

the helical thread includes an elastic polyurethane-based material, and wherein

the first internal thread includes one or more of a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, and a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material;

positioning a second internal thread adjacent and in parallel to the first internal thread,

wherein the second internal thread includes the elastic polyurethane-based material; and

encapsulating the helical thread and the first and second internal threads with an outer layer, wherein the outer layer includes one or more of a cotton, a polyester, a polypropylene, and a synthetic cellulose yarn-based material.
