Description

FIELD

The present disclosure relates to a cosmetic packaging.

BACKGROUND

This section provides background information related to the present disclosure which is not necessarily prior art.

Packaging for cosmetics are currently known for the application on the body of products that may be in powder form, in liquid phase or dispersions. These products may be used, for example, in the pharmaceutical or cosmetic field. An example of a product in the cosmetic field is mascara.

The application devices may consist of a container wherein there is the cosmetic product and an applicator. The applicator generally has the shape of a rod which is at least partially immersed inside the container and, in particular, immersed in the cosmetic product. At the end of the applicator immersed when the device is closed, an application tool such as, for example, a brush may be fixed. Therefore, it allows the collection of the product, its extraction from the container reducing or preventing dripping, and its application on the body once extracted from the container.

Known application devices often possess closure mechanisms that allow the airtight sealing of the container, so as to slow the alteration of the product contained therein due to exposure to air. Moreover, the closure mechanisms also aim to make the use of the device easier, by means of opening/closing systems that make its use more practical. An example of a closure configuration for application devices is described in the European patent EP3308670B1 filed on Dec. 10, 2017 in the name of Perego Andrea and Chen Wensheng.

Known application devices suffer from various drawbacks. Some of these devices do not allow the selective replacement of some parts. Therefore, when it is necessary to replace components of the device, the device must be replaced in its entirety. Moreover, a complete replacement of the device, especially when it includes more sophisticated closure mechanisms, can involve significant costs.

With reference to the Figures, a preferred embodiment of packaging according to this disclosure is globally denoted by the number 1. It may be a packaging for cosmetics suitable for allowing application of a cosmetic product 10 on a user's body. The product 10 may be a product in liquid phase, a dispersion in liquid phase, etc. For example, the product 10 may be a mascara. Therefore, the packaging 1 is preferably a container that allows storing and retrieving the product 10 so as to apply it on a user's body.

The packaging 1 defines a main axis 1a that corresponds to a direction along which the packaging 1 extends. For example, the main axis 1a may be the main extension direction of the packaging 1.

The packaging 1 comprises a container 2. It is a container suitable for containing the product 10. Therefore, it includes an internal volume 21. It is the volume that is at least partially occupied by the product 10. The internal volume 21 extends along the main axis 1a. For example, it may extend predominantly along the axis 1a, in particular for a packaging having an elongated or slender shape. In general, the internal volume 21 may also have predominant extension in directions transverse to the main axis 1a.

The container 2 includes a first opening 20. It is an access opening to the internal volume 21. In detail, it may be the only access opening to the internal volume 21.

The container 2 may have cylindrical shape, with axis coinciding with the main axis 1a.

The packaging 1 advantageously comprises a first body 5. It is a tubular body. In detail, it may be a tubular body extending along the main axis 1a. For example, it may have the shape of a cylinder or polygonal prism with the axis coinciding with the main axis 1a, or a shape having the main axis 1a as axis of symmetry. In general, the first body 5 may also have a non-symmetrical shape.

The first body 5 is reversibly or removably disposed around the container 2. In this way, one end of the container 2 at the first opening 20 protrudes from the first body 5. Therefore, the first body 5 performs the function of outer casing. It may perform a decorative function, in addition to protecting the container 2. The advantage of this solution is therefore that it allows the replacement of the container 2 when the product 10 inside is exhausted without having to replace the first body 5.

The first body 5 may preferably comprise a first cavity 50. It may be a through cavity. It is suitable to be occupied by the container 2. To this end, the first body 5 may comprise a second opening 51. It is a through opening. In particular, the second opening 51 is suitable to be occupied by the container 2. The first body 5 preferably comprises a third opening 52. It is a through opening. The third opening 52 is suitable to allow the insertion of the container 2 into the first cavity 50.

The packaging 1 may define a first coupling configuration. In this configuration, the container 2 is inserted along the main axis 1a into the first cavity 50 through the second opening 51. Therefore, in this configuration, the container 2 is coupled to the first body 5.

In particular, the container 2 preferably comprises an access portion 22. It is a portion of the container comprising the first opening 20. Therefore, it corresponds to the mouth of the container 2. In particular, the access portion 22 is configured to be sequentially inserted into the second opening 51 and into the third opening 52. Moreover, it is configured to exit the first cavity 50 through the third opening 52 in the first coupling configuration.

The transition to the first coupling configuration may be carried out by inserting the container 2 in such a way that the access portion 22 is sequentially inserted first into the second opening 51, then into the third opening 52.

The container 2 may be counter-shaped or complementarily shaped to the first cavity 50. The container 2 may preferably define a bottom portion 23. It is a portion opposite to the access portion 22. For example, it may correspond to the portion of the container farthest from the first opening 20.

Moreover, the bottom portion 23 is configured at least to be inserted into the second opening 51. It may be housed inside the first cavity 50.

In this regard, the bottom portion 23 may have an extension greater than the third opening 52 in the plane of extension of the third opening 52. Consequently, the third opening 52 may hinder the insertion of the bottom portion 23 and allow only the insertion of the access portion 22. For example, the main axis 1a may correspond to the direction along which the container 2 is inserted into the first cavity 50. Therefore, the access portion 22 may have a smaller extension in directions perpendicular to the main axis 1a compared with the bottom portion 23. The insertion of the container 2 into the first cavity 50 continues until the bottom portion 23 is blocked by the third opening 52.

For example, the container 2 may have cylindrical symmetry with the axis coinciding with the main axis 1a.

The bottom portion 23 may preferably define a bottom end 23a. It is an end of the bottom portion 23 opposite to the access portion 22. In particular, the bottom end 23a may have a greater extension than the second opening 51 in the plane of extension of the second opening 51. For example, if the main axis 1a is perpendicular to the main extension plane of the second opening 51, the bottom end 23a may extend perpendicularly to the main axis 1a more than the rest of the bottom portion 23 and more than the second opening 51. Therefore, the second opening 51 may hinder the insertion of the bottom end 23a and allow only the insertion of the bottom portion 23 and the access portion 22. This configuration is advantageous since it allows the bottom end 23a to remain outside the first cavity 50 even when the first body and the container 2 are in the first coupling configuration. In this way, the bottom end 23a may be handled so as to release, when necessary, the container 2. Therefore, the bottom end 23a performs the function of making easier the transition to the first coupling configuration or the decoupling between the first body 5 and the container 2.

The packaging 1 may preferably comprise first coupling means 7. Advantageously, they are configured to reversibly constrain or engage the first body 5 to the container 2. Therefore, the container 2 may be reversibly disposed in the first body 5 through the first coupling means 7. They may comprise a mechanism that permits bringing and maintaining the first body 5 and the container 2 in the first coupling configuration.

Preferably, they may include a first thread 70. It may be a thread integral with the first body 5. Moreover, the coupling means 7 may comprise a second thread 71. It may be a thread integral with the container 2. The latter is compatible with the first thread 70. In this way, the first body 5 and the container 2 may be mutually coupled by screwing around the threading axis of the threads 70 and 71. It may coincide with the main axis 1a. For example, both the first body 5 and the container 2 may have a cylindrical shape with their axis coinciding with the main axis 1a.

The first thread 70 may be a thread protruding from the first body 5 and the second thread 71 may be a groove counter-shaped to the first thread 70 in the wall of the container 2 in contact with the first body 5. Alternatively, the second thread 71 may be a thread protruding from the container 2 and the first thread 70 may be a groove counter-shaped to the second thread 71 in the wall of the first body 5 in contact with the container 2.

In general, this solution allows the easy replacement of the container 2 by decoupling it from the first body 5 by rotation around the threading axis of the threads.

In particular, the threads 70 and 71 may be positioned between the bottom portion 23 and the portion of the first cavity 50 disposed over the portion.

The bottom end 23a may advantageously allow gripping by a user. In fact, due to its position outside the first body 5, it allows to be easily grasped by a user who, by rotating it with respect to the first body 5, can achieve the coupling or decoupling between the container 2 and the first body 5.

The packaging 1 comprises an applicator 3. It is an applicator of the product 10. The applicator 3 comprises a head 30. It is the application head. Therefore, it is suitable to be immersed in the product 10, to retain part of the product 10 and to allow the application of the product 10 on the body.

For example, the head 30 may comprise a brush. In fact, it allows to retain the product 10 with the bristles so as to apply it on the body. The applicator 3 comprises an obstruction or closure portion 31. It is a portion suitable to reversibly obstruct or close access to the first opening 20. Therefore, it defines an obstruction position when positioned at the first opening 20.

The applicator 3 comprises a stem 32. It preferably extends along a main axis, which when the applicator is in the container 21 is parallel to or even coincident with the main axis 1a. For example, it may have cylindrical symmetry with axis coinciding with the main axis 1a. Alternatively, it may have alternative shapes, with preferential development direction coinciding with the main axis 1a. The head 30 is disposed on one end of the stem 32 and may be formed integrally with the head 30. Alternatively, the head 30 may preferably be reversibly or removable engaged on the stem 32. This solution advantageously allows replacing the head 30 without having to also replace the obstruction portion 31 and the stem 32.

The stem 32 may define a first end 32a and a second end 32b. The first end 32a is the end constrained or engaged to the obstruction portion 31. The second end 32b, opposite to the first end 32a, is constrained or engaged to the head 30.

For example, the second end 32b may comprise a housing in which part of the head 30 may be inserted by interlocking. In this way, it may be reversibly constrained or engaged to the stem 32. The stem 32 is constrained to the obstruction portion 31 at its own end opposite to the head 30. Therefore, as already stated, it is configured at least to support the head 30. Moreover, the stem 32 is configured to facilitate the insertion of the head 30 into the internal volume 21. In fact, when the stem 32 is inserted into the first opening 20, it is inserted into the internal volume 21. It is therefore at least partially immersed in the product 10. Consequently, the head 30, constrained or engaged to the stem 32, is also immersed in the product 10.

The stem 32 is configured to allow the extraction of the head 30 from the internal volume 21 for the application. Therefore, the stem 32 performs the function of supporting the head 30 during the application of the product 10.

To this end, the packaging 1 may preferably comprise a scraper 9. It may be an annular scraper. In particular, it is connected to the container 2. Preferably, it is constrained or engaged to the container 2 adjacent to the first opening 20. Moreover, it may be inserted into the internal volume 21 for most of its extension. For example, it may comprise an annular edge portion constrained to the edge of the first opening 20 and an inner annular portion extending inside the internal volume 21 integral with the edge portion. The inner portion may have dimensions transverse to the main axis 1a greater than those of the stem 32 and smaller than those of the first opening 20.

In general, the scraper 9 is suitable to allow the passage of the stem 32 and the head 30. Moreover, it is configured to remove part of the product 10 from the head 30 at least when the latter is extracted from the container 2. In fact, the product 10 may be at least partially removed from the head 30 by passing through or past the scraper 9. Its annular shape, narrower transversely to the main axis 1a than the extension of the head 30, which may have flexible bristles, ensures that the head 30 at least partially interacts with the scraper 9, removing excess product 10. The extraction may occur along the main axis 1a.

The packaging 1 comprises a second body 6. It is a tubular body. In particular, it extends along the main axis 1a. The second body 6 is reversibly disposed around the obstruction portion 31. Therefore, the second body 6 advantageously performs the function of external casing of the obstruction portion 31. It may give greater strength to the packaging 1. Moreover, the second body 6 may also perform an aesthetic or decorative function.

The feature of the second body 6 of being reversibly or removably disposed around the obstruction portion 31 is advantageous since it allows replacement of the applicator 3 while keeping the same second body 6.

The packaging 1 may preferably comprise second coupling means 8. Advantageously, they are means configured to reversibly constrain or engage the applicator 3 to the second body 6. Therefore, the second body 6 may be disposed around the obstruction portion 31. In particular, the second coupling means can include a third thread 80. It may be a thread integral with the applicator 3. The second coupling means 8 may comprise a fourth thread 81. In particular, it is integral with the second body 6. The fourth thread 81 is compatible with the third thread 80. In this way, the second body 6 and the applicator 3 may be mutually coupled by screwing around a threading axis of the threads 80 and 81. It may coincide with the main axis 1a. For example, both the second body 6 and the applicator 3 may have a shape that is at least partially cylindrical or cylindrical symmetry with axis coinciding with the main axis 1a.

The third thread 80 may be a thread protruding from the applicator 3. In detail, it may be protruding from the obstruction portion 31. The fourth thread 81 may be a groove counter-shaped to the third thread 80 in the wall of the second body 6 in contact with the obstruction portion 31. Alternatively, the fourth thread 81 may be a thread protruding from the second body 6 and the third thread 80 may be a groove counter-shaped to the fourth thread 81 in the wall of the obstruction portion 31.

In general, this solution allows the easy replacement of the applicator 3 by decoupling it from the second body 6 by rotation around the threading axis.

The second body 6 may comprise a second cavity 60. It may be a through cavity. The second cavity 60 is suitable to be occupied by the applicator 3.

The second body 6 may comprise a fourth opening 61. It may be a through opening. In particular, it is a through opening that allows access to the second cavity 60.

The second body 6 comprises a fifth opening 62. It is a through opening. Similarly, to the fourth opening 61, the fifth opening 62 allows access to the second cavity 60.

The fourth opening 61 and the fifth opening 62 are adapted to allow the insertion of the applicator 3 into the second cavity 60.

The second body 6 may define a second coupling configuration. In this configuration, the applicator 3 is inserted, along the main axis 1a, into the second cavity 60 through the fourth opening 61 and the fifth opening 62.

In particular, the stem 32 may be configured to be sequentially inserted into the fourth opening 61 and the fifth opening 62. Moreover, the obstruction portion 31 may be configured to be inserted into the fourth opening 60. Therefore, to move to the second coupling configuration, the applicator 3 is inserted into the fourth opening 61 and the fifth opening 62, in such a way that the obstruction portion 31 is inserted into the second cavity 60.

In this regard, the obstruction portion 31 may occupy only part of the second cavity 60. Therefore, the portion of the second cavity 60 not occupied may be occupied by the access portion 22. In detail, the access portion 22 may be inserted into the fifth opening 62 when the packaging 1 is assembled and closed.

In particular, the stem 32, as a result of sequential insertion into the fourth opening 61 and the fifth opening 62, protrudes from the fifth opening 62. Therefore, the stem 32 and the head 30 may be inserted into the internal volume 21, and the obstruction portion 31 may be coupled to the second body 6.

Preferably, the obstruction portion 31 may comprise an outer portion 31a. It is a part of the obstruction portion 31 opposite to the stem 32. In particular, the outer portion 31a may be opposite to the first end 32a.

The outer portion 31a may have a greater extension than the fourth opening 61 in its plane of extension. For example, if the main extension plane of the fourth opening 61 is orthogonal to the main axis 1a, the extension of the outer portion 31a may be greater in a direction perpendicular to the main axis 1a.

Therefore, the fourth opening 61 may allow the insertion of the obstruction portion 31 and hinder the insertion of the outer portion 31a.

This solution is advantageous since the outer portion 31a may function as a gripping portion for the user, allowing movement of the outer portion 31a, and thus the applicator 3, relative to the second body 6. For example, if the third thread 80 and the fourth thread 81 are present, the outer portion 31a may be rotated with respect to the second body 6 so as to screw or unscrew the applicator 3 with respect to the second body 6. In this way, the applicator 3 and the second body 6 may be advantageously coupled or decoupled.

Moreover, the outer portion 31a allows the obstruction portion 31 to enter fully into the second body 6, making extraction difficult if it is desired to decouple the applicator 3 and the second body 6.

The packaging 1 comprises constraint or engaging means 4. They can be means integral in part with the first body 5 and in part with the second body 6. In particular, they are configured to reversibly constrain or engage the first body 5 to the second body 6. In detail, the constraint or engaging means 4 blocks the obstruction portion 31 in the obstruction position. The obstruction portion 31 is blocked in the obstruction position when the first body 5 and the second body 6 are mutually constrained.

Therefore, the constraint or engaging means 4 are responsible for maintaining the obstruction position. The packaging 1 can thus be closed only when the first body 5 and the second body 6 are mutually constrained by the constraint means 4.

In detail, the constraint means 4 may preferably comprise magnets 40. The magnets 40 have the advantage of facilitating the closing and opening of the packaging 1 by a movement respectively of approaching or moving away of the first body 5 relative to the second body 6. For example, the approaching and moving away may occur along the main axis 1a.

The magnets 40 may preferably comprise first magnets 40a. They are constrained to the first body 5. In particular, the first magnets 40a may be placed near the third opening 52. The magnets 40 may preferably comprise second magnets 40b. They are constrained to the second body 6. In particular, the second magnets 40b may be constrained near the fifth opening 62. For example, the first magnets 40a may be placed in a portion of the first body 5 near the edge of the third opening 52. Similarly, the second magnets 40b may be placed in a portion of the second body near the edge of the fifth opening 62.

The first magnets 40a and the second magnets 40b may be positioned to be mutually attracted. In detail, the first magnets 40a may be oriented so as to have opposite polarity to the second magnets 40b. Since the magnets are constrained to the first body 5 and the second body 6, they form part of the portions of the packaging 1 that are not replaced.

As an alternative to the magnets 40, the constraint or engaging means 4 may be other means, such as threaded elements, interlocking elements, friction fit elements, detent elements, or other means.

The packaging 1, therefore, allows replacement of the applicator 3 while maintaining the same second body 6 and replacement of the container 2 while maintaining the same first body 5. Since the constraint or engaging means 4 that allow the packaging 1 to be closed are located on the first body 5 and the second body 6, the applicator 3 and the container 2 do not advantageously allow a closure mechanism when they are separated respectively from the first body 5 and the second body 6.

To this end, the packaging 1 may define a first decoupling configuration. In this configuration, the first body 5 is pulled off the container 2. Moreover, when in this configuration, the packaging 1 may comprise a closure element. It is a removable closure element. For example, it may correspond to a cap or a removable tab. In particular, the closure element is configured to obstruct the first opening 20 and prevent the product 10 from escaping the container 2 when the packaging 1 is in the first decoupling configuration. Therefore, the closure element maintains the internal volume 21 separated from the outside when the packaging 1 is not yet in the first coupling configuration and in the second coupling configuration.

The first coupling configuration can be achieved after removal of the closure element, which is not repositioned on the first opening 20. In this way, the head 30 and the stem 32 can be inserted into the first opening 20.

The packaging 1 may define a second decoupling configuration in which the second body 6 and the applicator 3 are separated. The packaging 1 may overall have a cylindrical shape or symmetry. The openings may be circular and may be aligned. The main axis 1a may pass through the center of each opening. The main axis 1a may correspond to the threading axis of the threads.

The operation of the packaging 1 previously described in structural terms is as follows.

When the packaging 1 is in the first decoupling configuration, the first opening 20 may be closed by the closure element. The latter can be removed, and then the container 2 can be inserted inside the first body 5. It can be inserted in such a way that the access portion 22 enters the second opening 51 and then the third opening 52. Once the container 2 is inserted inside the first cavity 50 and shod therein, it can be constrained to the first body 5 by the first coupling means 7, such as the first thread 70 and the second thread 71. The bottom end 23a can be rotated with respect to the first body 5 to achieve the constraint. For example, the container 2 can be rotated relative to the first body 5 to establish the constraint. In this way, the transition is made from the first decoupling configuration to the first coupling configuration.

The second body 6 and the applicator 3 can be brought from the second decoupling configuration to the first coupling configuration firstly by inserting the applicator into the fourth opening 61 and the fifth opening 62. The obstruction portion 31 is inserted into the second cavity 60 and the outer portion 31a can be handled to move the applicator 3 relative to the second body 6. For example, if the second coupling means 8 comprise a third thread 80 and a fourth thread 81, the outer portion 31a can be rotated with respect to the second body 6 to achieve the constraint between the second body 6 and the applicator 3.

Once the packaging is in both the first and second coupling configuration, the applicator 3, integral with the second body 6, can be brought into a position such that the stem 32 is inserted into the first opening 20. Once the obstruction portion 31 is brought into the obstruction position, for example by mutual approach along the main axis 1a of the first body 5 and the second body 6, the constraint means 4 bind the first body 5 to the second body 6 and maintain the obstruction position stable. In this way, the packaging 1 is closed and the product 10 cannot escape from the internal volume 21. The head 30 is at least partially in contact with the product 10.

The packaging 1 can be reopened by moving the first body 5 and the second body 6 away from each other, for example along the main axis 1a. The packaging 1 from the first coupling configuration can be reversibly brought to the first decoupling configuration so as to separate the container 2 from the first body 5 and replace the container 2 with another container 2, and then return the packaging 1 to the first coupling configuration.

Similarly, the packaging 1 can be operated from the second coupling configuration to the second decoupling configuration in order to separate the applicator 3 from the second body 6. The applicator 3 can then be replaced with another applicator 3 with which the packaging 1 can be returned to the second coupling configuration.

The packaging 1 according to this disclosure achieves significant advantages. Indeed, the packaging 1 allows partial replacement of some parts while maintaining the outer parts. The outer casings, i.e., the first body 5 and the second body 6, can be retained so that only the container and the applicator are replaced.

The packaging 1 has the advantage of enabling a cost reduction for the user, since the outer casings may be the most expensive parts of the packaging; thus, replacing the internal components avoids replacing the entire product, which would incur higher costs.

The packaging 1, due to its modularity, can also be reused for different products, when they are contained in containers compatible with the casings in terms of shape and dimensions. Moreover, the packaging 1 allows the replacement of even just one of the internal components. For example, only the applicator or only the container can be replaced.

Another advantage of the packaging 1 is the ability to easily replace its parts. Indeed, when the casings are coupled to the container and the applicator by threads, the coupling and decoupling is easy to perform, as it is sufficient to rotate the parts to be replaced with respect to the outer casings. To this end, the shape of the applicator and/or the container, which may include ends protruding from the outer casings, makes it possible for these ends to be used to facilitate gripping of the container and applicator for being moved relative to the casings and to allow their extraction or insertion.

The assembly/disassembly of the internal components can be further facilitated by the shape of the packaging. Indeed, it may have a shape that facilitates the insertion and extraction of the internal components due to the tubular shape of the outer casings.

The packaging 1, moreover, allows closure only when the casings are mounted on the respective internal components. Therefore, the container and the applicator can be closed only by the closure mechanism of the outer casings.

Another advantage of the packaging 1 is the possibility of storing the product even when the packaging is not assembled, due to the presence of the closure element of the container when it is not yet constrained to the outer casing.

Variations may be made to the embodiments that fall within the scope of the inventive concept defined in the claims.

In this context, all the details can be replaced by equivalent elements and any materials, shapes and dimensions can be used. The foregoing description of the embodiments has been provided for purposes of illustration and description. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the disclosure. Individual elements or features of a particular embodiment are generally not limited to that particular embodiment, but, where applicable, are interchangeable and can be used in a selected embodiment, even if not specifically shown or described. The same may also be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the disclosure, and all such modifications are intended to be included within the scope of the disclosure.
