The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/700,186, which was filed on Sep. 27, 2024, and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
The present invention relates generally to the field of ceiling fan devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a portable ceiling fan attached to an adjustable shaft and base unit. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
By way of background, this invention relates to improvements in ceiling fan devices. Generally, people may use ceiling fans for a light breeze within a room or to circulate air flow within a specific area. Ceiling fans are static and cannot be moved, and people may be left without a fan in different indoor and outdoor environments. Accordingly, standard portable fans like a box fan can be inefficient and only blow air in a single direction. Further, people may be looking for more convenient and efficient portable fans.
Accordingly, a ceiling fan constructed in accordance with the invention can be easily transported to be used for more air circulation in rooms, is desirable. Further, it is often necessary for people to have more airflow in different areas of a room. These rooms might be hard for a traditional ceiling fan to fully circulate air through them. Accordingly, a movable ceiling fan would be useful to adjust airflow in different locations.
Accordingly, there is a demand for an improved ceiling fan device that allows users to adjust the position of the ceiling fan anywhere in the room it is required. More particularly, there is a demand for a ceiling fan device that users can transport and set up with ease.
Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that provides users with an overhanging ceiling fan that adjusts the airflow in any indoor and outdoor location. There is also a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that features an adjustable telescopic pole that supports a fan overtop the user, allowing him or her to experience a light breeze and circulate the air to stay cool. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that offers a more effective portable fan compared to standard box fans that can be used in bedrooms, living rooms, patio areas, and more. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a device that includes an optional cover and enables users to choose from several shapes, colors, and sizes of the fan to accommodate all needs and preferences. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that allows a ceiling fan to hang from a portable rod. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that includes an optional shade or cover.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a ceiling fan device. The device is a modified ceiling fan attached to a vertical rod that can be adjusted to different heights and angles, as needed. The ceiling fan device comprises a fan component that is configured in the shape of a traditional ceiling fan. The adjustable shaft can be telescoping to allow for the positioning of the ceiling fan. Further, the adjustable shaft allows the fan component to provide a light breeze and air circulation to any indoor and outdoor location. Thus, the fan component is relatively tall and portable with the adjustable shaft and base unit. The adjustable shaft and fan component can include a horizontal rod to support the fan component on the adjustable shaft. Further, the fan component can be any color, style, or size as is desired. An optional shade or cover can be included to protect the user from sun or other weather.
In this manner, the ceiling fan device of the present invention accomplishes all of the forgoing objectives and provides users with a device that provides a ceiling fan with an adjustable shaft. The device is a ceiling fan that is adjusted via a telescoping vertical rod. The device can comprise a horizontal rod as well for stability.
The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a ceiling fan device. The device is a modified ceiling fan with an adjustable shaft which can be adjusted to any height or angle, as needed. The ceiling fan device comprises a fan component that can be manipulated via the adjustable shaft. Further, the adjustable shaft can be used to move the fan component across the floor and to different angles. Thus, the fan component is relatively tall, portable, and adjustable via the adjustable shaft. Further, the adjustable shaft and the fan component can include an optional shade or cover.
In one embodiment, the ceiling fan device allows users to adjust the height and angle of the ceiling fan by the telescoping features of the adjustable shaft. Further, the adjustable shaft allows the user to move the ceiling fan for better air flow rather than the ceiling fan staying in place. Accordingly, users can manipulate the ceiling fan wherever they desire which provides easier access to more air circulation as desired by the user.
In one embodiment, the ceiling fan device comprises a fan component that is configured in the shape of a traditional ceiling fan which is then attached to an adjustable shaft rather than directly to the ceiling. The fan component comprises a top side, a bottom side, and the blades. However, the fan component can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art, as long as the fan component is sized and shaped to productively circulate air around the room as desired by the user.
In one embodiment, the fan component is adjustable for height by lengthening or shortening the vertical center support via telescoping action. In all these embodiments, the adjustable shaft is secured to an activator component which acts to engage the telescoping action to raise or lower the fan component, as needed. Typically, when the telescoping action is utilized, the activator component is pneumatic and comprises an air cylinder to telescopically raise and lower the fan component.
In one embodiment, the adjustable shaft is utilized when adjusting and moving the device from place to place. Further, the adjustable shaft can be any suitable shaft as is known in the art, as long as the adjustable shaft allows a user to securely and comfortably manipulate the device with their hands. Further, the length and diameter of the adjustable shaft may be between 6 to 7 feet in total in height but it can vary widely, as it is important only that it be reasonably comfortable to fit over a user's head and allow manipulation of the device with relative ease. Additionally, the adjustable shaft comprises hand cranks which are secured to the device by any means necessary, such as screws, press-fit, drill and pin, welding, etc. These hand cranks serve as an activator for the telescoping action of the adjustable shaft.
In one embodiment, the adjustable shaft is adjustable and the height of the shaft can be raised or lowered, as needed. The adjustable shaft can also be rotated so that the fan component is at different angles to the user. Typically, the adjustable shaft can comprise a telescoping configuration. In the telescoping configuration, the telescoping segments are extended or retracted and then secured via a slip lock component in the desired height or in a completely collapsed configuration. In this configuration, the shaft can be raised, lowered, or rotated as needed, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user. Accordingly, the fan component is of varying shape which contains a shaft attached, as to allow collapse and expansion of the ceiling fan device using a single hand.
In one embodiment, the base unit is attached to the bottom of the adjustable shaft. The base unit is comprised of the same material as the adjustable shaft and is welded or secured by any other appropriate means to the bottom of the adjustable shaft. The base unit is round with a flat bottom to allow the entire device to stand on its own within needing extra support
In one embodiment, the ceiling fan device comprises an optional shade or cover that can be secured to the fan component or the adjustable shaft for use. The shade or cover can be releasably secured via screws, bolts, pins, etc., or any other suitable fasteners as is known in the art. The shade or cover can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art. Further, the shade or cover can be removed and folded for storage when not in use.
In one embodiment, the fan component is completely structurally sound. The adjustable shaft comprises a horizontal rod at the top curved section of the adjustable shaft which attaches to the fan component. This horizontal rod allows for extra strength and support to the fan component.
In one embodiment, the ceiling fan device comprises a wire and plug that are integrated into the base unit of the device. This plug allows the device to be plugged into the nearest outlet and causes the fan component to begin spinning. The wire connects within the base unit to the electrical system and causes electrical impulses to travel into the device and start the movement of the fan component.
In one embodiment, the ceiling fan device is manufactured from titanium, aluminum, steel, plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic, or other suitable materials as is known in the art, or a combination of such materials.
In yet another embodiment, the ceiling fan device comprises a plurality of indicia.
In yet another embodiment, a method of adjusting a ceiling fan via an adjustable shaft is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a ceiling fan device comprising a fan component with an adjustable shaft. The method also comprises cranking the hand crank on the adjustable shaft. Further, the method comprises adjusting the adjustable shaft until the fan component is at a desired location. The method also comprises plugging the plug and wire at the base unit into the nearest outlet. Finally, the method comprises ensuring that the air flow is at the correct level and location that is desired by the user.

To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, certain illustrative aspects of the disclosed innovation are described herein in connection with the following description and the annexed drawings. As noted above, there is a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that features an adjustable telescopic pole that supports a fan overtop the user, allowing him or her to experience a light breeze and circulate the air to stay cool. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that offers a more effective portable fan compared to standard box fans that can be used in bedrooms, living rooms, patio areas, and more. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a device that includes an optional cover and enables users to choose from several shapes, colors, and sizes of the fan to accommodate all needs and preferences. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that allows a ceiling fan to hang from a portable rod. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a ceiling fan device that includes an optional shade or cover.
The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel stool with adjustable handle device. The ceiling fan device comprises a fan component that is configured in the shape of a traditional ceiling fan. The adjustable shaft can be telescoping to allow for the positioning of the ceiling fan. Further, the adjustable shaft allows the fan component to provide a light breeze and air circulation to any indoor and outdoor location. Thus, the fan component is relatively tall and portable with the adjustable shaft and base unit. The adjustable shaft and fan component can include a horizontal rod to support the fan component on the adjustable shaft. Further, the fan component can be any color, style, or size as is desired. An optional shade or cover can be included to protect the user from sun or other weather.
Referring initially to the drawings, FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of one embodiment of the ceiling fan device 100 of the present invention. In the present embodiment, the ceiling fan device 100 is an improved ceiling fan device 100 that provides a user 106 with a ceiling fan that is manipulated solely by the shaft. Specifically, the ceiling fan device 100 comprises a fan component 102 and an attached adjustable shaft 104. Thus, the fan component 102 is relatively tall, portable, and adjustable via the adjustable shaft 104. Further, the adjustable shaft 104 and the fan component 102 are supported by a base unit 108.
Generally, the ceiling fan device 100 allows users 106 to adjust the height of the fan component 102 via the adjustable shaft 104. Further, the adjustable shaft 104 can be used to move the device 100 around the room and at different angles to promote better air flow. Accordingly, users 106 can manipulate the fan component 102 (i.e., moving, adjusting, raising, lowering, etc.), solely via the adjustable shaft 104, saving users 106 significant time and energy and preventing pain and discomfort.
Further, the ceiling fan device 100 comprises a fan component 102 that is configured in the shape of a traditional ceiling fan with a round base shape 110 and blades 112 around the circumference 114. The fan component 102 comprises a top side 116, a bottom side 118, and blades 112 along the circumference of the circular base shape 110. However, the fan component 102 can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art, as long as the fan component 102 is sized and shaped to be above the user 106 during use.
Additionally, the fan component 102 is adjustable for height by lengthening or shortening the vertical center rod 120 via telescoping action. In this embodiment, the adjustable shaft 104 is secured to an activator component 122 which acts to engage the telescoping action to raise or lower the fan component 102, as needed. In one embodiment, when the telescoping action is utilized, the activator component 122 is pneumatic and comprises an air cylinder to telescopically raise and lower the fan component 102.
Generally, the adjustable shaft 104 is adjustable through a series of hand cranks 124. The hand cranks 124 work as the activator component 122 for the telescoping action of the adjustable shaft 104. Typically, the adjustable shaft 104 can comprise a telescoping configuration. In the telescoping configuration, the telescoping segments 126 are extended or retracted and then secured via a slip lock component 128 in the desired height or in a completely collapsed configuration. Accordingly, the adjustable shaft 104 comprises at least one telescoping segment 126 that allows the total length of the adjustable shaft 104 to be extended or retracted. Each telescoping segment 126 is hollow and has a slip lock component 128 for locking the segment 126 at a specific length. Further, the slip lock component 128 is released by means of pressing or turning the slip lock component 128 or simply turning the hand cranks 124. The at least one telescoping segments 126 allow the adjustable shaft 104 to have a length from approximately six feet to seven feet fully extended, allowing a user 106 to set the device 100 at a desired length. Thus, the adjustable 104 is approximately six feet in length but can be adjusted to a length of approximately seven feet, if needed.
As shown in FIG. 2, the fan component 102 can also comprise an optional shade or cover 200. This shade or cover 200 can attach to the blades 112 of the fan component 102 through any securing means 202 necessary. The shade or cover 200 is used to either provide the user 106 with covering from the weather 204 or to protect the fan component 102 from damage.
In another embodiment, the ceiling fan device 100 is manufactured from titanium, aluminum, steel, plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic, or other suitable materials as is known in the art, or a combination of such materials.
As shown in FIG. 3, the adjustable shaft 104 ends at a base unit 108. This base unit 108 has a round shape with a flat bottom side 300 so that the device 100 can stand upright without any support. The base unit 108 also contains a wire and plug 302 to allow the device 100 to be turned on and off. The wire and plug 302 are integrated into the base unit 108 and connect the electrical workings within the device 100 to the outlet in which the wire and plug 302 is plugged into.
In another embodiment, the ceiling fan device 100 comprises a horizontal rod 304. This horizontal rod 304 is placed at the top of the adjustable shaft 104 and connects to the fan component 102. This horizontal rod 304 is placed to provide extra support to the fan component 102 and hold it upright above the user 106 during use.
In yet another embodiment, the ceiling fan device 100 comprises a plurality of indicia 306. The fan component 102 of the device 100 may include advertising, a trademark, or other letters, designs, or characters, printed, painted, stamped, or integrated into the fan component 102, or any other indicia 306 as is known in the art. Specifically, any suitable indicia 308 as is known in the art can be included, such as but not limited to, patterns, logos, emblems, images, symbols, designs, letters, words, characters, animals, advertisements, brands, etc., that may or may not be fan, adjustable shaft, or brand related.
FIG. 4 illustrates a flowchart of the method of adjusting a ceiling fan via an adjustable shaft is disclosed. The method includes the steps of at 400, providing a ceiling fan device comprising a fan component with an adjustable shaft. The method also comprises at 402, cranking the hand crank on the adjustable shaft. Further, the method comprises at 404, adjusting the adjustable shaft until the fan component is at a desired location. The method also comprises at 406, plugging the plug and wire at the base unit into the nearest outlet. Finally, the method comprises at 408, ensuring that the air flow is at the correct level and location that is desired by the user.
Certain terms are used throughout the following description and claims to refer to particular features or components. As one skilled in the art will appreciate, different users may refer to the same feature or component by different names. This document does not intend to distinguish between components or features that differ in name but not structure or function. As used herein “ceiling fan device”, “fan device”, “adjustable shaft device”, and “device” are interchangeable and refer to the ceiling fan device 100 of the present invention.
Notwithstanding the forgoing, the ceiling fan device 100 of the present invention can be of any suitable size and configuration as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention, provided that it accomplishes the above stated objectives. One of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the ceiling fan device 100 as shown in FIGS. 1-4 is for illustrative purposes only, and that many other sizes and shapes of the ceiling fan device 100 are well within the scope of the present disclosure. Although the dimensions of the ceiling fan device 100 are important design parameters for user convenience, the ceiling fan device 100 may be of any size that ensures optimal performance during use and/or that suits the user's needs and/or preferences.
Various modifications and additions can be made to the exemplary embodiments discussed without departing from the scope of the present invention. While the embodiments described above refer to particular features, the scope of this invention also includes embodiments having different combinations of features and embodiments that do not include all of the described features. Accordingly, the scope of the present invention is intended to embrace all such alternatives, modifications, and variations as fall within the scope of the claims, together with all equivalents thereof.

1. A ceiling fan device that provides a user with a ceiling fan manipulated solely by a shaft, the ceiling fan device comprising:
a fan component; and
an adjustable shaft comprising a plurality of telescoping segments;
an activator component; and
wherein the adjustable shaft is secured to the fan component and can act to manipulate the fan component to move and adjust the fan component as needed; and
wherein the activator component is configured to telescopically adjust the plurality of telescoping segments to raise and lower the fan component.

13. A ceiling fan device that provides a user with a ceiling fan manipulated solely by a shaft, the ceiling fan device comprising:
a fan component; and
an adjustable shaft comprising a plurality of telescoping segments; and
wherein the fan component comprises a top side, a bottom side, and a plurality of blades along a circumference of the fan component;
wherein the adjustable shaft is secured to an activator component;
wherein the fan component comprises shade securable to the blades of the fan component;
wherein the adjustable shaft is secured to the fan component and can act to manipulate the fan component to move and adjust the fan component as needed; and
wherein the activator component is configured to telescopically adjust the plurality of telescoping segments to raise and lower the fan component.
14. The ceiling fan device of claim 13, further comprising a plurality of indicia.

17. The ceiling fan device of claim 16 further, comprising a round base unit with a flat bottom side.
