FIG. 2 is a top view of a flat sheet overlapping a fitted sheet in which detachable fasteners of the flat sheet are detachably coupled to corresponding fasteners on the fitted sheet according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
The present disclosure relates to various embodiments of a sheet system including a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, and one or more fasteners configured to detachably attach the flat sheet to the fitted sheet. The coupling between the flat sheet and the fitted sheet via the one or more fasteners is configured to maintain the flat sheet in place (e.g., snug on the bed) when the fitted sheet is attached to a mattress.
With reference now to FIGS. 1-2, a sheet system 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure includes a flat sheet 200 having an upper (top) edge 201, a lower (bottom) edge 202, a left side edge 203, and a right side edge 204. In the illustrated embodiment, the flat sheet 200 also includes an upper hem 205 along the upper edge 201, a left side hem 206 extending along the left side edge 203, a right side hem 207 extending along the right side edge 204, and a lower hem 208 extending along the lower edge 202. Additionally, in the illustrated embodiment, the flat sheet 200 includes a plurality of fasteners 209 spaced apart from each other. In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 may be integral with the flat sheet 200 or separate from the flat sheet 200.
The fasteners 209 may include one or more sockets, one or more studs, or a combination of one or more sockets and one or more studs. In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 (e.g., the one or more sockets and/or one or more studs) are disposed proximal to one or more edges or corners of the flat sheet 200. For example, each of the one or more fasteners 209 (e.g., the one or more sockets and/or one or more studs) may be disposed within approximately two inches, within approximately three inches, within approximately four inches, or within approximately five inches of a corner or an edge (e.g., the lower edge 202) of the flat sheet 200. Although in the illustrated embodiment the flat sheet includes five (5) fasteners 209, in one or more embodiments the flat sheet 200 may include any other suitable number of fasteners 209, such as fewer than five (5) fasteners (including a single fastener) or more than five (5) fasteners. For instance, in some examples, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, or more fasteners 209 (e.g., sockets and/or studs) may be disposed along or proximal to the lower edge 202 (e.g., proximal to the foot of the bed when in use) of the flat sheet 200. In some embodiments, there may be no fasteners (e.g., no sockets or studs) along or proximal to the other edges (e.g., the side edges 203, 204 and the top edge 201) of the flat sheet 200 other than those disposed at the bottom corners and that happen to be proximal to the side edges 203, 204.
In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 may be located between the lower hem 208 and the lower edge 202. The area of the flat sheet 200 between the lower hem 208 and the lower edge 202 is thicker than other portions of the flat sheet 200, and thus the flat sheet 200 is reinforced in the area of the fastener(s) 209. In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 may be equidistantly (or substantially equidistantly) spaced apart from each other (i.e., the fasteners 209 may be spaced at regular or substantially regular intervals). For example, the two closest sockets to a given socket may be spaced in the same amount (or substantially the same amount) from the given socket. Similarly, in one or more embodiments, the two closest studs to a given stud may be spaced in the same amount (or substantially the same amount) from the given stud. In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 may be spaced apart from each other at two or more different distances (i.e., the fasteners 209 may be spaced at irregular intervals).
In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 on the flat sheet 200 may include one or more sockets, one or more studs, or a combination of one or more sockets and one or more studs. Additionally, optionally, in one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 may include one or more socket caps and/or one or more stud caps. For instance, in one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 of the flat sheet 200 may include one or more sockets and one or more socket caps configured to attach to the one or more sockets. Additionally, in one or more embodiments, the fasteners 209 of the flat sheet 200 may include one or more studs and one or more stud caps configured to attach to the one or more studs. In one or more embodiments, the one or more sockets, one or more studs, and optionally one or more socket caps and/or one or more stud caps are formed of (or include) plastic (e.g., plastic garment snaps). In some examples, the one or more sockets, one or more studs, and optionally the one or more socket caps and/or the one or more stud caps are in a range from approximately 0.5 centimeter (cm) wide to approximately 1.5 cm wide. In some embodiments, the fasteners 209 (e.g., the one or more sockets, one or more studs, one or more socket caps, and/or one or more stud caps) may be YKK sockets, studs, or caps. In some embodiments, the socket caps and stud caps may be similar or substantially the same.
With continued reference to FIGS. 1-2, the sheet system 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure also includes a fitted sheet 300 having an upper edge 301, a lower edge 302, a left side edge 303, and a right side edge 304, and an elastic band 305 extend around the periphery of the fitted sheet 300 (i.e., the elastic band 305 extends along the upper edge 301, the lower edge 302, the left side edge 303, and the right side edge 304). Additionally, in the illustrated embodiment, the fitted sheet 300 includes one or more fasteners 306 configured to be detachably coupled to the corresponding one or more fasteners 209 of the flat sheet 200. Accordingly, the flat sheet 200 and fitted sheet 300 are configured to snap together to improve the secureness of the sheet system 100.
In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 on the fitted sheet 300 may include one or more sockets, one or more studs, or a combination of one or more sockets and one or more studs. Additionally, optionally, in one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 may include one or more socket caps and/or one or more stud caps. In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 may be integral with the fitted sheet 300 or separate from the fitted sheet 300. In one or more embodiments, the number of fasteners 306 on the fitted sheet 300 may be the same as the number of fasteners 209 on the flat sheet 200. In some embodiments, the fasteners 306 (e.g., the one or more sockets, one or more studs, one or more socket caps, and/or one or more stud caps) may be YKK sockets, studs, or caps. In some embodiments, the socket caps and stud caps may be similar or substantially the same.
In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 may be spaced apart from each other along a bottom portion of the fitted sheet 300 (e.g., the fasteners 306 may be proximate to the lower edge 302 of the fitted sheet 300). In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 (e.g., the one or more sockets or one or more studs) are disposed proximal to one or more edges or corners of the fitted sheet 300. For example, in one or more embodiments, a leftmost fastener 306 (e.g., a leftmost socket or stud) may be disposed approximately eight inches from a left bottom portion edge of the fitted sheet 300 and may be disposed approximately seven and a half inches from a line defined by a leftmost pocket depth edge. A rightmost fastener 306 (e.g., a rightmost socket or stud) may be disposed approximately eight inches from a right bottom portion edge of the fitted sheet 300 and may be disposed approximately seven and a half inches from a line defined by a rightmost pocket depth edge.
Although in the illustrated embodiment the fitted sheet 300 includes five (5) fasteners 306, in one or more embodiments the fitted sheet 300 may include any other suitable number of fasteners 306, such as fewer than five (5) fasteners (including a single fastener) or more than five (5) fasteners. For instance, in some embodiments, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, or more fasteners 306 (e.g., sockets and/or studs) may be disposed along or proximal to the lower edge 302 (e.g., proximal to the foot of the bed when in use) of the fitted sheet 300. In some embodiments, there may be no fasteners 306 (e.g., no sockets or studs) along or proximal to the other edges (e.g., the side edges 303, 304 and the top edge 301) of the fitted sheet 300 other than the rightmost and leftmost fasteners 306 disposed at the bottom corners and that happen to be proximal to the side edges 303, 304.
In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 may be equidistantly (or substantially equidistantly) spaced apart from each other (i.e., the fasteners 306 may be spaced at regular or substantially regular intervals). For example, the two closest sockets to a given socket may be spaced in the same amount (or substantially the same amount) from the given socket. Similarly, in one or more embodiments, the two closest studs to a given stud may be spaced in the same amount (or substantially the same amount) from the given stud. In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 may be spaced apart from each other at two or more different distances (i.e., the fasteners 306 may be spaced at irregular intervals). In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 may have any other suitable spacing depending on the spacing of the fasteners 209 of the flat sheet 200. That is, in one or more embodiments, the spacing between the fasteners 209 (e.g., the one or more sockets and/or one or more studs) of the flat sheet 200, and the spacing between the fasteners 306 (e.g., the one or more sockets and/or one or more studs) of the fitted sheet 300, may be the same (or approximately the same) so that the studs from either the flat or fitted sheet can snap into the sockets from the other of the flat or fitted sheet.
In one or more embodiments, the fasteners 306 (e.g., the one or more sockets and/or one or more studs) of the fitted sheet 300 may be reinforced by a double layer of self-fabric 307 (e.g., the same fabric as the primary fabric of the fitted sheet 300) to reinforce the hold.
In use, the flat sheet 200 is configured to lie, at least partially, over the top of the fitted sheet 300. In one or more embodiments, the fitted sheet 300 may first be attached to a mattress and then the flat sheet may be detachably coupled to the fitted sheet 300 by coupling the fasteners 306 of the fitted sheet 300 to the fasteners 209 of the flat sheet 200 (e.g., snapping the studs into the sockets). Alternatively, the flat sheet may be detachably secured to the fitted sheet first coupling the fasteners 306 of the fitted sheet 300 to the fasteners 209 of the flat sheet 200 200 (e.g., snapping the studs into the sockets) and then the fitted sheet 300 may be attached to a mattress. In this manner, the flat sheet 200 and fitted sheet 300 are configured to snap together to improve the secureness of the sheet system 100.
